Hugh is a generally registered psychologist with clinical experience across inpatient, community, primary care, and educational settings. He has worked with a diverse range of people and situations, from young people with learning-based difficulties, people having relationship difficulties, those struggling with trauma, and with people involved in the justice system. He now works primarily with adults, and aims to cultivate a safe and non-judgemental environment where clients feel listened to and valued, and enable them to navigate their challenges collaboratively.
Adopting a broadly psychodynamic lens, Hugh draws on a broad range of evidence-based approaches, which include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Schema Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Motivational Interviewing, and DBT-informed interventions. Hugh mainly supports individuals presenting with trauma, anxiety, depression, challenges with substances, psychosis, and neurodevelopmental presentations.
Hugh is also highly experienced in psychological assessment, having administered a wide range of tools including the WAIS-IV, WISC-V, WIAT-III, Conners-3, and ADHD/Autism diagnostic assessments. He places particular value on the role assessments play in informing appropriate recommendations and supporting educational and occupational settings in implementing meaningful adjustments.
Alongside his clinical work, Hugh holds a PhD in social neuroscience (University of Queensland, 2024) and hold Honorary Research Fellow appointments at Monash University and University College London.
Hugh is currently accepting new clients and has regular availability on Thursdays and Fridays.
